About Craig Howie - Colorado Triathlete Coach
Craig grew up in Wyoming where he competed very seriously as a wrestler. In 1995 after a devastating knee injury, he was introduced to the amazing world of endurance athletics, and by 1996 had run his first marathon. In 1998 while earning his secondary teaching degree, he began coaching endurance athletes in many different areas including triathlon, duathlon, running, cycling, cyclocross, and swimming. In 2001, Craig raced well enough at Ironman Canada to qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Hawaii. After finishing Hawaii, doors began to open for Howie, and he joined Team Lindquist under coach Loren Lindquist, husband and coach of Barb Lindquist. This opportunity opened his eyes to amazing training methods and motivated him to become a professional multisport coach. In 2004, Craig left the teaching world and began the Howie Endurance Project. Craig and Jennifer met while in college at the University of Northern Colorado. In 2003, their son Grable was born in Boulder, Colorado. Craig, Jennifer and Grable currently live in Longmont, Colorado. To date, Craig has completed four Ironman distance races including two races at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.
About Jennifer Howie- Business Manager of the Howie Endurance Project
Jennifer grew up in the Denver metro area of Colorado. As a native of Colorado, Jennifer has long been active in the Colorado outdoors. Jennifer was introduced to the world of endurance athletics when she met Craig while attending the University of Northern Colorado. Jennifer fell in love with the endurance world and began to compete recreationally in running races and shorter distance triathlons. In 2003, Jennifer and Craig’s son Grable was born in Boulder, Colorado. The birth of their son lead Jennifer down her own business path when she founded the successful baby food business Little Potatoes Baby Food. After a successful two year run which included highlights such as becoming a vendor at Colorado Whole Foods and Wild Oats stores and being featured in high profile media such as, The Wall Street Journal, Cookie Magazine, ABC News Now, 9 News, Fox 31 News and the Boulder Daily Camera. At the end of 2006, Jennifer made the difficult decision to stop producing and selling Little Potatoes, as the time commitments were far too demanding. Although Jennifer has been involved in HEP since its inception, she is now focusing her time to managing the business aspect of the Howie Endurance Project.
